Many of the home’s residents attended in-home and community activities
Streamway Villa residents were treated to an event-filled Easter weekend that included a myriad of activities inside and outside of the Cobourg long-term care home.
On Good Friday, nutritional care aide Sadie Mininni baked special cupcakes for residents and staff members. The cupcakes, which were topped with chocolate icing and mini Easter eggs, are described by life enrichment co-ordinator Christina Verleysen as “the most delicious, adorable cupcakes I have ever had.”
On Saturday afternoon, life enrichment aide Nancy Williams accompanied a group of residents to an Easter egg treasure hunt in downtown Cobourg. Verleysen says this proved to be a great opportunity to engage residents in a community event.
“We always take part in whatever (Easter) events the community has on – we are so close with our home (being in downtown Cobourg), so we always get extra volunteers to come in,” Verleysen tells The OMNIway.
“The residents enjoyed watching the kids and the people dressed up as Easter bunnies.”
On Sunday, residents were treated to Easter eggs and the nutritional care team prepared a Sunday lunch for residents and their families.
