RN receives home’s 2017 Inspired Leadership Award

Registered nurse (RN) Belinda Sarmiento demonstrates each day the leadership qualities that are crucial in a long-term care home, and it’s for this reason Belinda received Rosebridge Manor’s Inspired Leadership Award.

“She captures the essence of who we are and who we are cable of being,” Belinda’s co-workers at the Jasper, Ont., long-term care home say in nominating her for the honour.

“(Belinda) goes above and beyond the call of duty and is always compassionate while she leads by example. Residents always come first and always have over the past 6 ½ years.”

The Rosebridge team members say leadership needs to be built from within, through motivation, inspiration, challenging others and equipping people with skills that directly benefit residents in all aspects of their lives.

“By enabling our people, we entrust them with the responsibility of carrying out OMNI’s mission, vision and values as they are intended and which represent the heart of Rosebridge Manor.”

OMNI Health Care’s Inspired Leader Award is presented to staff members from each of the organization’s 18 long-term care homes. The accolade recognizes people who demonstrate OMNI’s mission, vision and values. Inspired Leaders also possess outstanding leadership skills and are committed to their work.

OMNI announced the 2017 recipients of the Everyday Hero, Inspired Leader and Elisabeth Hinton Memorial awards at the Quality Forum in Calabogie, Ont., in May. Managers from OMNI’s long-term care homes were presented with the names of the award winners. Homes are presenting the awards during their own ceremonies.
