Residents, guests enjoy shortcake, support Alzheimer Society
A recent event at Rosebridge Manor provided residents, guests and the local Alzheimer Society chapter the opportunity to have their cake and eat it too.
The 78-bed Jasper long-term care home hosted a strawberry social June 20. The sweet affair attracted 35-40 people to enjoy strawberry shortcake.
“We had a good turnout,” says Kathy Barr, life enrichment co-ordinator (LEC) at Rosebridge Manor.
“Our local church bought us a whole bunch of strawberries and we organized a strawberry social. We were hoping for nicer weather but they still had a good time.”
The LEC hired a band for the event, so participants enjoyed live music with their desserts. There was also a charitable aspect of the day.
“We try and raise money through donations for the Alzheimer Society for our township of Lanark Leeds Grenville,” Kathy says.
The amount of funds raised wasn’t available at press time.
The strawberry social is an annual event for Rosebridge Manor.
