‘It was really nice to see seniors helping seniors’

Just before Christmas, Streamway Villa residents received some generous holiday cheer from people living at a retirement community just around the corner from the Cobourg long-term care home.

Sock snowmen and Christmas tree ornaments were among the homemade gifts delivered to Streamway Villa by people from Cobourg Retirement Residence.

Several people from Cobourg Retirement Residence stopped by to deliver homemade gifts to Streamway residents; a gesture that was well-received by residents and staff members, says Chelsea Tinney, a life enrichment aide at Streamway Villa.

Some of the gifts included Christmas tree ornaments, sock snowmen as well as candy canes and chocolates.

The items were wrapped in small boxes that the folks from Cobourg Retirement Residence handed out to each of the 59 Streamway Villa residents.

Chelsea says the visit from Cobourg Retirement Residence made an already-great holiday season even better for Streamway Villa residents.

“The residents were smiling and everyone was really happy and grateful they had come by,” she says. “It was really nice to see seniors helping seniors.”
