‘Quiet star’ who leads by example named Riverview’s Everyday Hero
Tammy Delong is lauded by her co-workers for living OMNI’s mission, vision and values
Quite often, the greatest heroes are the quiet ones who lead by example, and Riverview Manor cook Tammy Delong is no exception.
Tammy, who has been working at the Peterborough long-term care home since 1999, is the recipient of Riverview Manor’s 2018 Everyday Hero Award.
A dedicated staff member who is described as the home’s “quiet star” by administrator Mary Anne Greco, Tammy is a “respected, valued (and) dedicated long-term employee” who shares her knowledge with colleagues.
She has also proven herself to be an outstanding mentor to new cooks that join the Riverview Manor nutritional care team, her colleagues say.
“Tammy upholds OMNI’s mission, vision and values on a daily basis by greeting everyone with a smile and always showing compassion,” her co-workers say in nominating Tammy for the Everyday Hero Award.
“(She is) always eager to share her knowledge and expertise in assisting her fellow staff as needed to ensure the nutritional care needs of our residents are always met.”
Tammy was recently presented with the award at a ceremony held at Riverview Manor.
The Everyday Hero Award is given out annually by each of OMNI Health Care’s 18 long-term care homes to recognize staff members who demonstrate extraordinary dedication to residents and co-workers.
