Positive attitude, strong work ethic and creative flair are among Everyday Hero’s attributes

Frost Manor LEA Kim Williams is praised by her colleagues for the enthusiasm she brings to enhancing residents’ quality of life

Since joining the Frost Manor life enrichment team a year ago, Kim Williams has approached her job each day with a positive attitude and a genuine desire to enhance quality of life for the Lindsay long-term care home’s 62 residents, her colleagues say.

For these reasons, Kim was presented with Frost Manor’s Everyday Hero Award during a ceremony at the home on Aug. 6.

In their nomination, Kim’s teammates say the life enrichment aide (LEA) has a positive outlook that has become contagious around the home.

“Kim is a consistent burst of energy to the team,” her co-workers say in their nomination. “Kim begins each day with a bright smile and (an) enthusiasm which spreads to others. Kim faces each challenge with a positive attitude.”

One of Kim’s key strengths is her creativity, her teammates say. She has come up with programming ideas and has taken it upon herself to run with activities the life enrichment team delivers to make them more enjoyable for residents.

Most recently, Kim and LEA Amy Whitehead put a lot of work into designing the Under the Sea theme in the home’s dining room, which includes decorative octopuses, a shark, a ship, seaweed, crabs and many fish.

Aside from her creative flair, Kim has also forged meaningful relationships with residents “where they feel special and part of the family,” her co-workers say, adding she can also be counted on to assist anyone who needs help.

“Kim is a team player who is always willing to help and lend a hand to a fellow co-worker or a resident.”
