More than 100 people attend resident, family member, volunteer and staff party
Pleasant Meadow Manor hosted a Christmas party Dec. 8 that brought together residents, volunteers, family members and staff for an afternoon of food and fun.
Every year Pleasant Meadow Manor hosts a party around the holiday season. This year’s party concept came from Judy Schell, the Norwood long-term care home’s nutritional care manager, who suggested an afternoon party with finger foods and entertainment to bring everyone together.
More than 100 people attended the event, including about 40 people from outside of the home, says Chris Garden, Pleasant Meadow Manor’s life enrichment co-ordinator.
All of the 61 residents’ family members as well as each of the home’s volunteers were sent invitations to the event, which included musical entertainment. The nutritional care team created platters of hors d’oeuvres, including sausage rolls, puff pastries, and cheese and crackers.
And, of course, there was dancing.
“Some of the residents wanted to dance, so we had them up dancing and it was a lot of fun,” Chris says.
The Christmas party also served as an opportunity to host a ceremony to present Pleasant Meadow Manor’s 2016 Everyday Hero and Inspired Leader awards. Chris is the recipient of this year’s Inspired Leader Award. Environmental services staff member Anita Wesley received the Everyday Hero. The OMNIway will bring you their stories in the coming days.
