‘The Volunteer Factor – Lifting Communities’ this year’s theme
Look up, way up to discover the big impact volunteers have in Canada.
The importance of volunteers is a message that will be conveyed next week courtesy of images of large hot air balloons in the sky. Of the many hot air balloons, one says “National Volunteer Week 2019, The Volunteer Factor – Lifting Communities, April 7-13, 2019.”
This year’s theme is “The Volunteer Factor – Lifting Communities.” The Volunteer Factor celebrates and recognizes the exponential impact of volunteers and how they lift our communities, organizers say in a news release.
“The beautiful image of the hot air balloons of different sizes, shapes and colours reflects the diversity of community volunteers.
“It illustrates that when people volunteer together, the sky is the limit, in terms of what they can achieve.”
National Volunteer Week (NVW) is a time to celebrate and thank Canada’s 12.7 million volunteers.
OMNI Health Care’s 18 long-term care homes in southern Ontario depend on volunteers to help out at the homes and, in turn, enrich residents’ quality of lives through initiatives ranging from one-to-one social visits to providing musical entertainment and other activities.
Typically, during NVW, OMNI homes set aside time to celebrate and recognize their volunteers through appreciation teas and other events. Stay tuned to The OMNIway for stories about the homes’ recognition activities and to hear from the men and women who volunteer for the long-term care provider.
Organizers of the national campaign invite providers to check out the NVW 2019 Campaign Kit, which contains tips, templates and planning tools to help plan NVW events.
