This is how administrator Karen Dann describes the home’s 2019 Inspired Leadership recipient
Country Terrace administrator Karen Dann characterizes registered nurse Maria Noorenberghe as having a strong work ethic and as being a team member who’s always there for residents, their families and her co-workers at the Komoka, Ont. long-term care home.
In fact, Karen refers to Maria as “the backbone of Country Terrace,” which is why Maria was nominated for Country Terrace’s 2019 Inspired Leadership Award.
“Maria is old school in her work ethic,” Karen says. “She shows compassion to all the residents, family members and staff. … Her compassion is not only for the residents but for her co-workers as well. …
“Maria is always there to help anyone, anytime.”
Karen says Maria exhibits every attribute that a nurse should have. Aside from being kind and compassionate, Maria also has “excellent” assessment and communication skills.
The administrator adds Maria is also continuously upgrading her education “to ensure that she is doing everything she can for our residents.”
This is not the first time Maria has been presented with an award. In 2018, the Country Terrace management team created a special award in addition to the Inspired Leadership and Everyday Hero accolades.
The Award of Appreciation was presented to Maria last year to recognize her for her willingness to go above and beyond the call of duty to help residents and her co-workers.
OMNI Health Care’s Inspired Leadership Award is presented annually to staff members from each of the organization’s 18 long-term care homes. The accolade recognizes people who demonstrate OMNI’s mission, vision and values. Inspired Leaders also possess outstanding leadership skills and are committed to their work.
