Local Tim Hortons thanks Frost Manor team with coffee and doughnuts

‘It is these acts of kindness and generosity that truly show how the City of Kawartha Lakes comes together to support one another’

Frost Manor team members are grateful for a recent act of kindness from a local Tim Hortons store in Lindsay to thank them for the hard work they’re putting forth during the ongoing global COVID-19 pandemic.

On April 23 employees from the Tim Hortons store arrived at Frost Manor in a big red van loaded with complimentary coffee and doughnuts to show their appreciation for all Frost Manor staff.

“It is these acts of kindness and generosity that truly show how the City of Kawartha Lakes comes together to support one another,” Frost Manor life enrichment co-ordinator (LEC) Lyndsay Burton tells The OMNIway.

“It may be a small act of kindness on behalf of our local Tim Hortons, but it creates a lasting impact on our staff and puts a smile on our faces.”

Lyndsay adds that Frost Manor has been on the receiving end of many other kind gestures since the pandemic began. The home has received many cards with encouraging words from past family members and former staff members, she says.

“One family placed a sign at our front entrance with an inspiring message, others have donated gift cards for local pizza and coffee shops as well, all to show support to our essential front-line workers,” the LEC says.

Since the pandemic began, Frost Manor and OMNI Health Care’s other 17 long-term care homes have been closed to all but essential visitors (who must be screened at the door) and infection control protocols have been ramped up.

Lyndsay says the kindness and support people are showing for the Frost Manor team is helping everyone at the home stay strong.

“It is safe to say that the work our front-line workers do each day never goes unnoticed, (and) we are certainly feeling the love and support from our Frost Manor family and our community,” she says.
