Lianne Meyers is an ‘inspirational’ team member deserving of special recognition, says colleague

Burnbrae Gardens personal support worker (PSW) Juanita Baird says when she looks around the Campbellford long-term care home she can tell when her colleague, Lianne Meyers, has been adding her personal touch.

Lianne is a champion at making Burnbrae Gardens look warm and inviting throughout the year through her decorating skills, Juanita says.

“She just has this knack for making this home look so inviting and homey; with her techniques every season she brings her designs and cheer to make the residents feel like their home,” Juanita says.

“Not only that, she gets everyone involved – residents and staff – with her decorating efforts. … She truly missed her calling for interior design. We are so blessed that she has brought this talent into our home.”

On top of having an aptitude for beautifying the environment at Burnbrae Gardens, Lianne also plays a big part in putting together bake sales, preparing staff meals and helping raise money for the residents’ council, Juanita says.

“She is truly a wonderful asset to all residents, staff and families, and we are very lucky to have her as one of our employees,” Juanita says. “Her dedication and love for this home are inspirational.”

For the hard work Lianne puts in to make Burnbrae Gardens look and feel its brightest, Lianne was nominated for the home’s 2018 Inspired Leadership Award by Juanita. The award was presented to Lianne at a recent ceremony at Burnbrae.

OMNI Health Care’s Inspired Leadership Award is presented to staff members from each of the organization’s 18 long-term care homes. The accolade recognizes people who demonstrate OMNI’s mission, vision and values. Inspired Leaders also possess outstanding leadership skills and are committed to their work.

“I really feel she deserves the award for an outstanding leader, as she is a true leader inside and out and is of great value to our home,” Juanita says.

“She has gotten so involved with making our outside look so comfortable for the residents to enjoy their outside time as they do.”
