Kanata restaurants and local business treat Garden Terrace team to meals

‘Everyone is coming together, from front-line staff to our local businesses – it is beautiful to see and it is filling my heart with gratitude,’ says administrator

The Garden Terrace team has recently been on the receiving end of random acts of kindness from local businesses.

With increased safety protocols in effect and staff members working diligently to keep residents and their co-workers safe during the ongoing global COVID-19 pandemic, the Garden Terrace team has been working extra hard, so the Kanata long-term care home has been appreciative of the complimentary food they have received.

On April 15, Fratelli, a local Italian restaurant, donated lasagna to the nursing department. The following day, Garden Terrace staff members received more than 115 individual pizzas courtesy of another local restaurant, Papa Sam’s, and a local business, Sanmina Corp.

Garden Terrace administrator Christine Schyf says these kind gestures have kept morale high at the home and are examples of the local community coming together during a difficult time.

“Everyone is coming together, from front-line staff to our local businesses – it is beautiful to see and it is filling my heart with gratitude,” she tells The OMNIway, adding that she wants to send a “big thank-you” to the local businesses for their support.

“I have encouraged everyone to please remember the local restaurants during this crisis,” Christine says, noting restaurants are providing a much-needed service to local communities by operating during the pandemic.
