‘Inspired Leader’ transforms residents’ breakfasts, dietary department
Burnbrae Gardens ‘proud’ to have Adam Brand on its team
ORILLIA, Ont. – From frying eggs residents rave about to motivating employees by example, Burnbrae Gardens is grateful to have Adam Brand on staff.
The 43-bed Campbellford long-term care home presented the nutritional care manager (NCM) with an Inspired Leader award May 7 during OMNI Health Care’s second annual Awards and Recognition Night at Fern Resort.
“This employee has only been with OMNI for a short time, but what a difference he has made,” said April Faux, Burnbrae Gardens’ administrator.
“You’ll always see him lending a helping hand to employees. There’s no job too big or small for him.”
Faux said Brand has transformed the nutritional care department with ease by leading by example. “He’s gained great respect from his staff.”
Brand has a passion for education and enjoys teaching the dietary employees new techniques in the fun atmosphere he fosters, Faux said.
Always sporting a smile, the NCM is having a positive influence also on the men and women who call Burnbrae Gardens home. “I always hear the residents making compliments about the quality of the food and the presentation.”
When he’s the breakfast cook through the week, residents commend him for his fried eggs. “The residents are always asking for the little extras and special requests and he always come through for them to make that happen,” the administrator says.
“Overall, he has shown great commitment to his job, he’s an excellent leader and we’re proud to have him on our team.”
OMNI honoured staff members from 17 long-term care homes during the awards ceremony.
Forest Hill life enrichment co-ordinator Craig Forrest emceed the affair.
“It’s fantastic to see front-line workers receiving awards,” Forrest said.
The evening featured a Viva Las Vegas theme. Staff got into the spirit by dressing up in an array of colourful and creative costumes varying from playing cards to pink flamingos.
