Maria Noorenberghe is described as ‘the backbone of Country Terrace’
In addition to the Circle of Excellence Awards for the Everyday Hero, Inspired Leadership, Lifetime Achievement and Elisabeth Hinton Memorial Award recipients that Country Terrace presented in late 2018, team members created a unique accolade to honour RN Maria Noorenberghe.
Maria is known around the Komoka, Ont. long-term care home as “the backbone of Country Terrace,” a team member who everyone can count on to ensure everything is running smoothly, says life enrichment co-ordinator Christie Patterson.
So, the management team felt it fitting to design a special award – the Award of Appreciation – to recognize Maria for going above and beyond the call of duty to help residents and her colleagues working on the front line.
“(Maria) consistently comes through for us, working extra shifts, always available to the home,” Christie says.
“She is a skilled RN who ensures that everything is reported, documented, communicated and carried out in a timely fashion.”
Maria was presented with the award at a ceremony held at the home honouring all Circle of Excellence Award recipients.
Personal support worker Brenda Ring was named this year’s Everyday Hero Award recipient; RN Christina Kissoondath earned the Inspired Leadership Award; RN Pat Wysman was honoured with the Elisabeth Hinton Memorial Award; and three residents, Maria Beadle, Margaret Ward and Michael Bird, each received a Lifetime Achievement Award.
OMNI Health Care’s Circle of Excellence Awards are presented annually at each of the organization’s 18 long-term care homes.
