10 couples celebrated their love at this year’s event
Country Terrace’s nutritional care and life enrichment departments collaborated to help 10 couples celebrate their love on Feb. 14 during the Komoka, Ont. Long-term care home’s annual Valentine’s Day lunch.
Included in this year’s meal were heart-shaped sandwiches, macaroni-and-cheese balls and small tomatoes decorated into roses.
Dessert featured chocolate cupcakes that were each topped with a chocolate-covered strawberry and an edible flower.
Country Terrace nutritional care manager Alex Achillini says it was a strong level of teamwork between the nutritional care and life enrichment departments that made the event a success.
“We all worked together – (the nutritional care team) worked together to help make the meal, but the life enrichment department worked hard as well setting up the dining room and the lounge and taking care of the music and decorations,” he tells The OMNIway.
“We always work together on these events.”
Four of the couples who were honoured at the luncheon live together at Country Terrace, while the other six couples consisted of a resident and a spouse who lives outside the home, Alex notes.
Alex says events like the Valentine’s Day luncheon are important to residents and he and his co-workers are happy that their work enhances residents’ quality of life.
“The couples all had a really great time, and it was really nice that we could do this for them,” he says.
