Casino trip hits the jackpot for Village Green residents

Village Green residents, their families and staff members are seen here in front of Shorelines Casino in Belleville on June 12. The group went to the casino for an outing that included lunch and, of course, time spent playing the slot machines.
‘Everyone is asking when we can do this again’
A June 12 trip to Shorelines Casino in Belleville had such a positive impact on a group of Village Green residents and their families that many are still talking about the outing.
While at the casino, residents, families and staff members enjoyed lunch together and then spent time playing the slot machines. There were some winners, too, Karen Coulter, the Greater Napanee long-term care home’s life enrichment co-ordinator tells The OMNIway.
“They had such a great time,” Karen says. “Everyone is asking when we can do this again.”
Cheryl Whitehead, who has lived at Village Green for three years, says this was her first trip to the casino.
“It was a very good time – everybody enjoyed the food there and playing the machines,” Cheryl says. “We had a really good afternoon.”
About eight residents attended the outing. Karen played the role of tour guide, which went over well with residents, Cheryl says.
“And our tour guide was the best,” she chuckles.
