Administrator Linda Pierce has worked at Village Green for 30 years. While she has seen lots of changes at the Selby, Ont. long-term care home during her tenure, one thing has remained constant: there has always been a family atmosphere with lots of support from the community.
Linda, who started working at Village Green in 1988 as office manager and became administrator in 1991, says right from the start of her career she had support from the home’s staff and the local community.
“They all came together to make me successful, because I couldn’t have done it alone,” she says, adding a local school even provided her space to write her university exams.
Linda says Village Green is more than just a long-term care home – “it’s really a family,” she says.
She notes how funds donated by people associated with Village Green as well as from the community have contributed to projects over the years that have given Village Green even more of the homey feeling than it already has.
These projects include a sunroom, a larger lobby and a garden.
