Betty Drummond has been volunteering in her community for 33 years. This includes volunteer work with young people as well as senior citizens. She is also a volunteer at Frost Manor.
What has kept her volunteering at the Lindsay long-term care home, she says, is knowing the difference she makes in residents’ lives.
Betty says what’s most rewarding for her as a volunteer is “seeing the smiles on (residents’) faces” through the musical programming she provides.
Volunteering is an important part of Betty’s life.
“I’ve always enjoyed helping other people,” she says.
Frost Manor hosted a luncheon April 27 to honour its volunteers like Betty who help enhance every aspect of quality of life for residents.
April 23-29 was National Volunteer Week 2017. The week was marked by events nationwide that celebrate volunteers and all they do to enrich the lives of others. This year marks the 76th National Volunteer Week.
