Thanks to the efforts of several residents’ families and staff members who came in on their day off, Streamway Villa residents were able to attend a Remembrance Day service in Cobourg.

The Streamway Villa life enrichment team, including life enrichment co-ordinator Christina Doughty, as well as the home’s administrator Kylie Szczebonski, came to the home on Saturday to accompany eight residents to a parade and service hosted by the Royal Canadian Legion at the Victoria Park cenotaph.

Streamway Villa also donated $60 to the legion for a wreath to lay at the cenotaph in honour of the home’s past and present veterans.

Streamway Villa residents, families and staff members attend the service annually, and the home’s central location in Cobourg makes that possible, Christina says.

But it was staff members’ dedication to residents that made the day extra special, Christina says.

“We are so lucky to have such amazing staff members and family members who participate and allow us to attend these events with residents,” Christina says.

“We had lots of people who came in on their day off … and we’re so lucky to have them.”
