OMNI team raises $500 for ALS research, gets soaked in the process

PETERBOROUGH, Ont. – After being challenged by some of OMNI Health Care’s homes, 11 people from head office participated in the Ice Bucket Challenge Aug. 25.

The group couldn’t have picked a better day to accept the challenge to raise money for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) research. The weather was warm and balmy and everyone dried off quickly after tipping the buckets on themselves.

The OMNI Ice Bucket Challenge raised about $500.

OMNI president and CEO Patrick McCarthy and chief operating officer Shawn Riel even went a second time, courtesy of a much larger bucket of water poured on them by director of building operations Keith Eldridge.

“A number of our homes have already done the challenge and it’s spreading like wildfire through the homes,” McCarthy says. “It really fits (with OMNI’s corporate values) because it’s a fun event … and because it’s raising money for ALS research.”
