BRIGHTON, Ont. – Maplewood honoured thy mothers with a May 14 social event at the Brighton long-term care home.

On Mother’s Day, Maplewood hosted a social event for residents and their family members.

Mother’s Day is an appropriate time to recognize all of the women who reside at the OMNI Health Care long-term care home, says Rachel Corkery, Maplewood administrator and life enrichment co-ordinator (LEC).

“We toasted to a great afternoon,” she says. “It was a full house.”

Maplewood had the event catered and offered a variety of snacks and refreshments.

Residents created centrepieces featuring fresh, vibrant carnations for each table. The home’s local florist, Blossoms, provided Maplewood with a discounted rate, which made the pretty arrangements possible, the administrator notes.

Of the 49 residents at Maplewood, 32 are female. Most of them are mothers. All of them are important.

“We celebrate all of the women. They are all our role models,” Rachel says.
