LINDSAY, Ont. – Two students from St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Secondary School who have been doing their co-op placements at Frost Manor say working with the Lindsay long-term care home’s residents has been their favourite aspect of their placement.
The daughter of Frost Manor resident Vi Quibell recently penned a letter thanking the home’s team, particularly life enrichment co-ordinator (LEC) Lyndsay Irwin, for hosting a June 5 celebration honouring her mother’s life.
Administrator Linda Pierce has worked at Village Green for 30 years. While she has seen lots of changes at the Selby, Ont. long-term care home during her tenure, one thing has remained constant: there has always been a family atmosphere with lots of support from the community.
Spirits were both high and being served this past Father’s Day at two OMNI Health Care homes.
Streamway Villa was one of the sites selected by the Northumberland United Way to receive a helping hand from volunteers on the 21st Day of Caring, an annual event where employees from local industries and organizations devote time to helping others.
Streamway Villa residents and staff members had a visit recently from Kristie’s Little Portable Petting Zoo, a travelling animal handler, which brought goats, a pony and an alpaca, an animal native to South America that’s similar to a llama, to the Cobourg long-term care home.
A few weeks ago, the maintenance room at Frost Manor was overflowing with nuts, bolts, washers, nails and brackets, packed to the hilt in boxes and disorganized.
As part of Country Terrace’s mission to continually improve the quality of food service at the Komoka, Ont. long-term care home, the nutritional care team is baking homemade buns every Wednesday to serve with dinner.
Riverview Manor once again participated in the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada’s (HSF’s) annual Big Bike fundraiser, bringing in $1,110 to support the organization on June 13.
